Race
Ricciardo, Daniel (Hispania Racing) Transmission problem 4 pts Ricciardo failed to leave the line when the lights went out.

Ricciardo’s car went into anti-stall and failed to select a gear. The car was returned to the pits and repairs carried out. HRT sent Ricciardo out again, some 8 laps down on the rest of the field.

Ricciardo finished 14 laps down and was not classified after not having completed 90% of the race distance.

Liuzzi, Vitantonio (Hispania Racing) Causing safety car to come outCaused a multiple pile-up level 3Lose of grid place 16 pts In the charge to the first corner, Liuzzi lost control of the car and span across the grass.

Starting near the back, Liuzzi slide fast down the grass and impacted with the cars in the mid field. He made contact with Petrov who in turn hit Rosberg. All three were out of the race and several other drivers were forced take avoiding action.

In order to clean up the damage the Safety Car was brought out and for Singapore, Liuzzi received a 5 place grid penalty

Hamilton, Lewis (McLaren) Dunce 1 pts Hamilton was caught knapping at the restart of the race and was quickly overtaken by Schumacher.

Webber, Mark (Red Bull Racing) Hit another driver(s) level 4Crash due to driver error level 4 8 pts Collided with the back of Massa whilst trying to get past.

Massa did not receive any damage from the clumpsy overtaking move. Webber outbrake himself and had to turn into the corner. Massa was right where he turned in and Webber lost his nose.

On the way back to the pits, Webber went off at the Parabolica after his broken wing jammed under his car and sent him straight on. Webber was an instant retirement.

Schumacher, Michael (Mercedes Grand Prix) Balking 1 pts Whilst fighting with Hamilton, Schumacher heavily closed the door on Hamilton.

Hamilton was forced to the grass to evade the Mercedes of Schumacher. The potential for a massive off was huge but Hamilton avoided it as Schumacher knew he would.

Schumachers moves in his defence of his position became the subject of propagand. Hamilton complain over team radio that Schumacher moved a number of times unfairly – in his opinion. Mercedes, in the form of Ross Brawn, reminded Schumacher to enure other drivers have room in the corners in an attempt to avoid a stewards inquiry.

Kovalainen, Heikki (Team Lotus) Off the track 1 pts Went off the track after out braking himself at Rettifilo.



 
Maldonado, Pastor (Williams) Crash due to driver error level 5 5 pts Coming through the Parabolica, Maldonado went off the track.

Unlike most incidents in the Parabolica, Maldonado went off on the inside. As he exited the corner and opened up for the main straight, the back of the car stepped out and he went into the barriers. The front of the car was damage but was repairable.

Initially, it was assumed Maldonado had opened his DRS too early which caused the expected change in downforce but inadvertently sent him into the barrier. However, Williams later revealed that Maldonado span the wheels of his Williams and he was unable to catch it.

 
Glock, Timo (Virgin Racing) DRS Problem 4 pts Had DRS problems where it would not shut.



 
Practice
Buemi, Sebastien (Scuderia Toro Rosso) Spin off and recover 1 pts Span at Ascari.

Buemi touched the white line at the side of the track and span through the gravel.

 
Kovalainen, Heikki (Team Lotus) Transmission problem 4 pts Had gearbox issues in free practice.

Eventually Kovalainen stopped out on the track.

The crash, similar to those in the past at this difficult corner, severely damaged the left hand side of Buemi’s car.
