Who? What Points Action Lap
Race
Senna, Bruno (Renault) Caused a multiple pile-up level 3Drive through penalty 12 pts In an over excited move up the inside into the first chicane, Senna had a moment.

The moment eventually involved Alguersuari which became a sandwich between Senna and Alonso. Alguersuari, who was in an unusually high qualifying position was bumped from Senna to the side of Alonso which shattered the suspension of his Toro Rosso.

The resulting in the Spaniard retiring from the race and Senna received a drive through penalty which was handed out on lap 6.

1
Glock, Timo (Virgin Racing) Caused a multiple pile-up level 4Drive through penalty 13 pts Charging from the back Glock entered the first chicane at a too high speed for the other cars.

The Japanese driver did not care much for his front wing and ran with the front-wing end-plate broken for several laps before pitting on lap 15.

1
Perez, Sergio (Sauber) Hit another driver(s) level 3Drive through penalty 8 pts Collided with Beumi damaging the rear win of Buemi and the front wing of Perez.

Perez received a drive through penalty for the collision and this was take around lap 22.

Buemi was force to retire from the race with the damaged caused to his car.

6
Hamilton, Lewis (McLaren) Hit another driver(s) level 5 5 pts Approaching Les Combes, Hamilton passed Kobayashi but cut in too early resulting in a high speed collision.

The pair collided spinning Hamilton around and into the wall nose first. The car then careered onwards and into a tyre wall. Hamilton did not seem to move directly after the incident having been winded. The on board pictures shows a cautious marshal poke Hamilton in the helmet to see if he would move (or his head would fall off).

Eventually Hamilton climbed free from his Mclaren and, unusually, accepted blame for the incident. Kobayashi was left with no where to go but to the grass. The Japanese driver held his ground and Hamilton paid the price for not giving other drivers enough room.

The result was that the Mercedes span around colliding with the wall and continued to travel down the track finally coming to rest in the tyre wall. It was a spectacular and unusual accident which ruined the qualifying for Schumacher’s 20th anniversary race.

Maldonado, Pastor (Williams) Unsportsman like driving Hit another driver(s) level 4Lose of grid place 12 pts Let Hamilton know exactly how he felt about Monaco and the shove in qualifying.

In joining the hot heads of F1, Maldonado had seemed to have enough. After the flag had fallen on Q2, Maldonado caught up with Hamilton and cut sharply in front of the British driver ensuring there was less than enough room for the maneuver.

The resulting collision damaged both cars and put Hamilton’s participation in Q3 in doubt. Hamilton was quick to assign blame to Maldonado in radioing to his team that it was deliberate.

Maldonado stated that he “did not know what happened” even sometime later. Whether this was Williams PR or just plain denial it is unclear. What was clear to the stewards was that Maldonado deserved a 5 place grid penalty. This relegated him to 21st on the grid.
