Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Ligier) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts Comas was coming up to overtake Herbert’s’ Lotus and he made a dive up the inside. Comas’s team mate Boutsen was following in close contact and he attempted an overly optimistic manoeuvre on them both. Thierry slid wide hitting Comas. This pitched Comas’s Ligier into a spin that then knocked Herbert into the gravel trap. Comas was the only survivor for the incident on lap thirty seven but he himself only got as fat as alp forty two before he pulled up with an engine failure.

Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Ligier) Spin out of session / race 4 pts Boutsen found that his tyres were only lasting for a lap in qualifying trim. That combined with a spin in Saturday qualifying saw him slip to eight from sixth overnight.

Boutsen, Thierry (Ligier) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts Comas spun his Ligier in the first corner of the race. Boutsen collected his team mate’s spinning car. Herbert slipped past only to be hit by Comas as he came back across the track. Herbert’s Lotus was pitched in to a series of spin over the kerb, damaging the car’s front suspension. All three cars were out as was Tarquini who span his Fondmetal into the barrier trying to avoid the fracas.

1992 – Belgian Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Ligier) Spin out of session / race 4 pts As the track dried Boutsen called upon his local knowledge and pitted at the end of lap twenty-six for slicks just as a dry line was beginning to appear. This tactical masterstroke was wasted when on the very next lap he lost control of his Ligier in Blanchimont, crashing heavily where his team mate had done in practice.

1992 – Japanese Grand Prix

1991 – Italian Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Ligier) Spin out of session / race 4 pts Boutsen was out of the race on the second lap of the race. He was caught out by Brundle who was braking hard to avoid a wayward Pirro. In his efforts to avoid the Brabham Boutsen spun his Ligier into the gavel.

1991 – Australian Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Ligier) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts On lap five, in the appalling conditions Boutsen in his Ligier, tangled with Nakajima in his Tyrrell. Nakajima’s Tyrrell was terminally damaged and was out on the stop but Boutsen was able manage to cross the start / finish line just one more time before the damage his Ligier had sustained in the accident brought his race to a premature end.

1990 – Brazilian Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Williams) Pit lane blunder 5 pts At the end of lap thirty Boutsen, who was running in second position behind Senna pitted for a scheduled tyre stop. He was too fast as he entered the pit box and the car rammed one of the waiting tyres, sending the mechanics flying. Williams pulled the car back into position but the nose cone on Boutsen car had been damaged in the collision and needed to replace. The loss of time cost the Belgian dearly.

1990 – San Marino Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Williams) Engine problem 5 pts Boutsen’s race ended on lap eighteen when he terminally damaged the Renault engine when he fluffed a gear change. “I kept my fingers crossed hoping I’d got away with it but there was just no way.”

1990 – Canadian Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Williams) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts On lap twenty Prost was coming up to Larini’s Ligier. He did not want to come up to him in the middle of the next left hander so he backed off slightly. Boutsen saw the slowing Ferrari in front and it was like waving a red flag at a bull. He dived up the inside of the Ferrari, off the dry racing line on to the wet. The Williams snapped away immediately dumping the Belgian to barriers and retirement. Unfortunately for Larini the wayward Williams collected his Ligier and he was eliminated from the race too. “You can rely on the fact that I will never, ever make that sort of mistake again,” professed the embarrassed Boutsen.

1990 – French Grand Prix
Misc
Boutsen, Thierry (Williams) Spin out of session / race 4 pts Boutsen spun his Williams on his first run in Friday qualifying. He was lucky that he did not come to rest in a barrier or hit another car. Traffic on his second run resulted in sixth position on the provisional grid.

He had a severe vibration in the engine for the rest of the race but it held together to allow him to take the victory.
