Sarrazin was in his first Formula One race when the throttle stuck open on his Minardi. The car spun several times in the gentle left hander that leads on to the start finish straight at Interlagos. The car ploughed into the concrete was on the right hand side of the track. The impact ripped the front right suspension off the side of the car and sent the Minardi into a series of six full spins. Sarrazin was shocked but uninjured. The accident has also been attributed to a front suspension failure too but it was impossible to tell from the wrecked car.
