The puncture was caused by another car slicing his tyre with it’s front wing. di Resta limped back to the pits and after a new set of tyres went out again. However, issues with the car sent him off in Becketts and it was decided to retire the car.

His crash brought out the safety car as there was debris all over the track and a car stranded on the track. The race was therefore over and the cars ran slowly for the final two laps to the finish
