The car from then on was uncontrolable.. Rosberg slid down the track, was launched from a speed bump and ended up sliding further up the straight that follows the chicane. Luckily for Rosberg he missed the barriers that seperate the track from the escape road. Mercedes had their work cut out, but they managed to get the car ready for qualifying.

With a short exit lane Rosberg was surprised as Alguersuari exited the pits and collided with the sidepod of the STR. In the collision, Rosberg had knocked off his front wing which became jammed under the font wheels forcing Rosberg to stop on track. Rosberg was summoned to a stewards meeting to investigate. However, Rosberg turned up late and was duly fined for his late arrival. The fine was 10,000 euros of which 5,000 was suspended for 12 months.

Rosberg was put under investigation after the race but was not punished because he was deemed not to have been alongside Hamilton when he began to move across the track (to overtake another driver).	25
