Julian Bailey was running well toward the end of the race. He should have been in the point but for a mistake from the lotus Mechanics that would result in him having to make a lengthy second pit stop. At his first stop the mechanics failed to remove the ducting tape from the Lotus’s brake ducts that keep prevent the carbon disks being cooled in the damp conditions. Bailey had to make an extra stop to have this removed as his brakes began to overheat on the drying track.
