Magnussen, Jan (Stewart) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts With his team mate out on the first lap with gearbox trouble Magnussen was the only Stewart driver left in the race. On the second lap he was following Ralf Schumacher when he dived up the inside of the Jordan, trying to fit through an impossible small gap. The two cars collided and spun off in to the gravel, their races run. Tyrrell new-boy, Takagi was following closely and he spun his Tyrrell into the same gravel trap as he tried to a void the accident ahead. He too was out of the race. “I had quite a bad start and lost several places,” recounted Ralf. “The problem was I could not find my way into the centre of the pack, which was not a good thing to do. The going into turn five I was touched by Magnussen. It was a racing incident; he did not do it on purpose. My mistake was to be so far back.”

Magnussen, Jan (Stewart) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts At the start of the race Magnussen rammed his team mate’s SF2 hard from behind. The rear wing and diffuser on Barrichello’s car were seriously damaged. Barrichello attempted to nurse the car back to the pits but he spun off before he could get back to the pit lane entrance. Magnussen pitted for a new nose cone but he only lasted as fat as lap eight when his race was ended when third gear failed in his gearbox.

Magnussen, Jan (Stewart) Crash due to driver error level 1 1 pts Magnussen had a big accident in Friday morning practice that would damage his race car so badly that it could not be repaired in time for the afternoon’s qualifying session. He used the spare car, which he said was low on traction.
