Alonso, Fernando (Renault) Off the track 1 pts Over the grass in Qualifying 2

Alonso could have made the bright impression in Saturday’s qualifying session
but what could have been an electrifying lap was marred by a mistake. Coming into
the fast chicane at the start of sector three the young Spaniard lost control
of his Renault on the entry to the turn in and missed the first apex that forced
him over the grass on the exit of the left-right corner. The loss of time resulted
in a lap of 1.28:928, placing him on row five for the race.

"Overall I am satisfied with my very first qualifying session,"
he said. "We do not know what fuel load the other teams had but we are
quite happy with our choice of strategy. I am sure we will have an interesting
race tomorrow and I am looking forward to it."

Alonso, Fernando (Renault) Ignoring Waved Yellow Flag Drive through penalty 8 pts Overtaking Webber under safety car conditions on lap 27, getting a drive through penalty

When Michael Schumacher spun off on lap twenty-seven the race stewards decided to bring out the safety car for the third time. Yellow flags waved around the track but they were unnoticed by Fernando Alonso and he overtook Mark Webber’s Jaguar. His actions were later penalised when the stewards issued him with a drive through penalty, which he served on lap forty-two, dropping him from fourth to ninth place.

Alonso, Fernando (Renault) Ignoring Waved Yellow Flag Crash due to driver error level 10Causing a Red Flag 18 pts Alonso’s big smash on lap 54 after he hit debris from Webber’s accident

A the end of lap fifty four Mark Webber had a huge accident as he powered out
of the fast left sweeps by the pit-lane entrance. The R4 destroyed the tyre barrier
leaving the track strewn with debris.

Other driver’s heeded the yellow flags and tiptoed their way through the minefield
but not Fernando Alonso. He approached the hazard at full racing speed and was
powerless to avoid the inevitable collision.

Alonso arrived at the scene and struck one of Weber’s wheels with the right
hand side of his Renault. The Gaelic car disintegrated, speared to the left, smashing
into the pit wall before it ricocheted into the wall on the opposite side of the
track.

The race was immediately red flagged and since it had run more than 75%, the
race result was calculated form the end of lap fifty-three.

Unfortunately, Alonso injured his leg in the crash and had to be stretchered away
from the track to receive medical attention.

Alonso, Fernando (Renault) Mouthing off 5 pts Blaming his team for his smash as the Brazilian Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso had been guilty of dangerous driving at the previous Grand
Prix but he showed no remorse. Alonso had forced the stewards to stop the race
after he ploughed into debris from Mark Webber’s lap fifty-five accident.

"The team said to me that there was an accident in turn 12 just as
I approached the same corner so it was an unlucky moment,"
he said. "I
had (the warning) too late. There were flags all around the track from turn four
to turn 12, and when we have yellow flags we slow down. We know that in the particular
corner there has been an accident. You know it is a dangerous position when you
have a yellow flag, but when you have the safety car you have yellow flags for
the whole lap. You can’t do a lap at 10kmh."

Jacques Villeneuve branded Alonso’s driving "crazy" immediately after
the Brazilian race and he backed up his previous comments at Imola.

Not only had Alonso driven like a fool he tried to shift blame from his shoulders
on to his team’s.

Hand signal to Firman after the Jordan balked the Spaniard

Firman seed oblivious to the presence of the Renault and when he finally got the message and pulled to the outside line through turn three to allow the Renault to pass Alonso could not contain his frustrations any longer. Pulling along side the Jordan he gesticulated to Firman, not that the Englishman would have been taking any notice!
