Davidson, Anthony		2 pts	Pit lane speeding in FFP1. Not only did Anthony Davidson beat him teammate over the course of Friday’s practice session he also set a new record. He was given the first fine of the weekend, setting a new record, the quickest driver in the series to ever break the pit-lane speed limit. It took just thirteen seconds for Anthony to break the limit as he raced out of the Minardi garage and onto the track for his first ever lap as a fully-fledged Formula One driver. He was handed a $1000 fine for his exuberance. He broke the speed limit by just 2 km/h but he admitted that because the Minardi garage was so close to the end of the pits he didn’t think there was a need to turn the pit lane limiter on. "This is one record I could have done without. But one thing’s certain I won’t be paying the fine – I haven’t the money," Anthony said about the matter. "Our garage is so close to the end of the pit lane I didn’t feel I was going fast enough to put the limiter on. It was nice to finish ahead of Mark but I don’t feel I will be able to do that when it comes to qualifying. My instructions were to learn the circuit and the car and make sure I kept the car on the track. Things went well and I’ll be a lot less nervous for qualifying than I was."

Davidson, Anthony		4 pts	Spin in FFP1. Davidson was the first driver to make an error in Friday’s first practice session. The start of the session was delayed due to low lying fog that prevented the medical helicopter taking to the sky but when it did start the overcast conditions proved to be difficult for all the drivers but only Davidson spun. Exiting the La Source hairpin Davidson was too aggressive and spun his Minardi. He recovered the car well and continued without ill effect.

On lap nineteen he got his Minardi well out of shape through Pouhon and spun into the gravel. "After Mark retired from the race, I had no benchmark to base my performance on, so I was just pushing hard trying to keep the gap level with Taku (Sato), because I could see him ahead of me in the first stint," he said. "I was happy with the performance of the car and the tyres, and it was really fun to ride behind Taku and Olivier (Panis). I just pushed a bit too hard around the Pouhon corner, though, lost grip at the back when I went over a kerb, and spun into the gravel. It’s a shame, because it was a really enjoyable race up to that point. I wish I was still out there!"
