4 pts | Spinning out of the race, 3 points for style and three for speed. McNish had been driving well all weekend up until the forty-first lap of the race. He was coming in to the off camber turn four too hot and lost the rear end of the car. The car spun round and headed off the track backwards. McNish was beached in the gravel and out of the race. “I made a good start and was making very good progress until Montoya hit Schumacher. I was just behind Mika when he pulled out and I hit Juan’s wing, which was lying in the middle of the track,” he explained. “It damaged the nose of my car and punctured the front tyres, so I was forced to pit. The car’s handling then got worse and worse with oversteer and, at Turn 4, the rear wheel locked up.” |

1 pts | Crash in qualifying 4 points for style and 2 for speed. Alan McNish’s weekend had not been going well and on his second in qualifying run he ran wide in the final sector of his fast lap. The Toyota snapped wildly out of control, spinning across the track toward the retaining wall by the pit-lane entrance. Luckily the car was virtually at a standstill when it met with the wall. McNish recovered the car well and dived into the pits. “The car was much better balanced in qualifying trim and we were able to do a lap time quicker than I expected, unfortunately it is just not quick enough,” McNish said. “I hit a bump in the kerb on my second run putting me on the grass and I span, thankfully without incident. The car should be reasonable for the race.” |

1 pts | Brushing the guardrail in qualifying, misaligning his car?s suspension. McNish admitted to glancing a guardrail early in the qualifying session which knocked the front suspension slightly out of line. The displaced toe-in affected the car’s handling for the balance of the session. “The car felt better in qualifying than it did in practice this morning, and I found a good rhythm. I touched the barrier on my first run, slightly affecting the car’s handling,” McNish explained. “I want to apologise to Nick Heidfeld for unintentionally holding him up on his last run – it was just an unfortunate Monaco situation.” |

McNish made a mistake at Ste Devote and slid into the barriers at the exit of the corner. The suspension damage that his Toyota sustained proved to be terminal and the Scott was eliminated from the race. “I was driving very comfortably and the car was feeling very strong. I just touched the inside barrier at Sainte Devote, which bounced the car on to the outside,” he said. “It was my first time at Monaco and these things can happen. We have had a competitive weekend and we are already looking ahead to Montreal.” |

1 pts | The tangle with de la Rosa on the first lap that led to the Spaniard hitting the wall and pitting for repairs to his Jaguar. At the end of the lap first lap of the race Pedro de la Rosa and Allan McNish collided and the Jaguar driver slid into the retaining wall. He was able to limp into the pits for repairs and rejoined the race in last place, one lap down on his nearest rival. “A terrible end to my Canadian Grand Prix and suffice to say that I’m far from happy with Alan McNish! I made a reasonably good start and was charging down the second straight with the rest of the field when I noticed Alan overtake me on the outside as we approached the chicane. Given our heavy fuel load, we were prepared for this. As we got nearer to the chicane, I then tried a similar move on him and even though he was on the inside, he moved over to the outside and hit me,” Pedro explained. “This put me onto the grass and into the concrete wall. There was absolutely no reason for him to have done that and at 330kph, it was utter lunacy in my opinion. Maybe he didn’t see me, I don’t know, but it essentially ended my race. I pitted, but re-joined a lap down on everyone else. What eventually caused me to stop, I don’t know. It could have been because of the accident or it may well have been another problem.” |

4 pts | Spinning out of the race on lap fort-six On lap forty-six McNish’s weekend came to an end. After starting from his worst position ever on the grid his race was punctuated by bad luck and long pit-stops. It all became too much for the Scott and he spun out of the race on lap forty-six. His car was stuck in the gravel and he was forced to abandon it out on the circuit. “I had contact with de la Rosa at the start, which damaged the set up of the car making it difficult to drive. The paddles on my steering wheel would not work during my scheduled stop, so I lost time there,” McNish explained. “My race ended on lap 45 when I span the car. It has not been a good weekend and I am hoping for better things in Germany.” |
