Rogue Review, Britain 2007: Kimi the party pooper
July 9, 2007 - News
Siverstone was once an old airfield and as such the huge expanse of space has led to a track that not only is very wide but also has lots of gravel traps and run off. This all combines to make a race that rarely features anything remotely likely to bring out the safety car in anger. This year was no exception but it was a good race none the less.
From the start Massa proved that it does not take a rookie to make a rookie’s mistake by messing up Ferrari’s team effort for stopping Hamilton. Massa managed to pull up to take his position at the end of the warm-up lap only to stall like a learner driver in his first lesson. Waved yellow flags resulted in the grid reforming and Massa having to start from the pits. The eventual start was clean and after a bit of chopping left and right from Räikkönen and Hamilton, they entered the first corner in the positions they had started from. Massa had then the job of carving through the field like a hot knife through butter. His relentless speed proved just how quick the Ferrari is.
At the first round of pit stops at around lap 16, Hamilton pitted from the lead for his first new set of tyres. Eager to leave and waiting for the lollipop to move from his view he flinched too early as the lollipop was turned (not the same Lewis!). Luckily for him he avoided a Albers situation by promptly stopping and letting the somewhat rattled pit crew carry on their work. After all the leaders had stopped Lewis was in a disappointing 3rd. Lewis trying hard managed to burn rubber on a number of occasions before finally accepting that Alonso and Räikkönen had so much pace he was never going to catch up and there he stayed until the end of the race.
Both Alonso and Räikkönen were having trouble keeping away from each other. Kimi’s aggression was shown by some small trips to the grass and Alonso’s frustration with the back markers was shown after he tried to pass Speed and Wurz. Alonso past both of them fist waving high in the air. Wurz, so stuck with Alonso’s apparent joy of passing to two of them promptly drifted wide in to Speed, a racing incident which left Speed with broken front wheel hanging.

Rogue Prediction, Britain 2007
July 6, 2007 - Off Camber
The f1 paddock is rife with rumor and intrigue after the discovery of a massive scandal involving many people across a whole gamut of disciplines from almost every team (with the notable exception of Spyker who are too dull) from the most lowly cleaner to the highest paid technical director. A paper trail of e-mails, faxes, untraceable phone calls and secret meetings will hopeful be concluded soon with the result that Ralf Schumacher (or Adrian Sutil) can be blamed after a short but compelling witch-hunt and be publicly flogged on the starting grid by Bernie Ecclestone in a worldwide TV event seen by approx 75% of the planets' population. James Allen will be implicated as an accomplice in the alleged "Stepneygate" affair and will be punished by Max Mosley giving him a really rather painful Chinese burn whilst the Silverstone crowd cheer him on and the Red Arrows do a flypast and display including their new formation "Albers" which involves all 9 planes flying really slowly and erratically then the last plane tries to crash into either:
- the ground,
- at least 4 of the others ,
- a VC10 air to air tanker
Or, all of the above whilst the whole squadron is put up for auction on E-Bay and red leader tries to sue all the other airforces of the world for using much better bought-in planes and that’s just not on I say.
Torrential rain is the order of the day and whilst Bridgestone demo their new range of wet weather tyres: Drizzel, Damp intervals, and Quick-Better get the washing in this looks like it might go on for a while and I did the Duvet today isn’t that flippin typical. Hamilton simply walks on water and wins before being elevated to simultaneous saint and knighthood.
So at the flag its:
- Hamilton.
- Hidefelt
- Button, (who? you ask)
Due to podium peer pressure, after the race Lewis tries unsuccessfully to grow a beard whilst being interviewed by a very excited Louise Goodman who's breathless first question goes like this: "Well Lewis,Ohhhhhhhh another fantastic win, Mmmmmmmmmmmm I could just eat you all up, yummmmmmm, and frankly I'm game, OOOOOOOHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhAaaaaahhhhhhhhhh how about it then?" and James Allen mumbles "hey! I was going to say that…"
Er, allegedly….
